김영진의 개인전이 갤러리신라에서 개최됩니다. 2000년 시공갤러리에서의 개인전 이후 9년 만에 개최되는 개인전으로 사진매체를 이용한 설치작업을 선보입니다. 그가 70년대 부터 해오던 설치 작업 중 설치 작업을 해오던 중 이번엔 사진이라는 매체를 이용한 Installation 작업만을 모았습니다.
그가 15년간 머물고 있는 경주라는 도시의 요소 (불국사, 첨성대, 진평 왕릉, 황용사 )들을 360 기법으로 찍은 사진들을 다시 3차원의 시공으로 펼쳐 놓은 작업으로 내·외부의 바뀜현상 이라던가 Nega-Posi 의 바뀜과 동시에 나타나는 현상, 수평선의 끝이 다시 수평선으로 만나는 차원을 무시한 뫼비우스띠란 입체작업도 지금까지 해오던 석고마스트 작업과 같음을 볼 수 있습니다.
21세기 물리학의 화두인“대칭”을 불교의 ‘空’ 과 연결 시켜보려는 시도로 볼 수 있습니다.
최근 몇 년 사이 우주론이 우주과학의 영역으로 들어오면서 빅뱅이 증명되고 있는데 빅뱅 이후 4가지 힘(중력, 강한 상호작용, 약한 상호작용, 전자기 상호작용)이 분류되기 이전의 상태에 대칭이라는 원초가 있었습니다. 여기서 우리는 진화론을 확실히 굳혀버렸습니다. 그럼 신은 어디에 넣어야 하는가? 우리의 생각(사고)은 무엇을 말하는가? 서구의 논리에서 과학을 발전시켰다면 우리(동양)은 종교와 시를 탄생시켰습니다. 저 메마른 과학을 부드러운 신비로 쓰다듬어 주어야할 21세기 문화콘텐츠가 아닐까? 우리 모두가 돌아간다는 바로 그 하늘나라 (Blue Sky). - 작가노트 중
오랜만의 개인전이지만 그간의 작가의 진지하면서도 꾸준한 작업의 결과물을 보여주며 함께 공유할 좋은 기회가 되리라 생각합니다.

Young-jin Kim's solo exhibition will be held at Gallery Shilla. This is his first solo exhibition in 9 years since his solo exhibition at Construction Gallery in 2000, and he presents installation work using photographic media. Among the installation works he has been doing since the 1970s, he only collected installation works using the medium of photography.
It is a work that unfolds the elements of Gyeongju, where he has been staying for 15 years (Bulguksa Temple, Cheomseongdae, Jinpyeong Royal Tomb, and Hwangyongsa Temple) with 360-degree technique, again in three-dimensional space-time. You can see that the three-dimensional work of the Möbius strip, which ignores the dimension where the end of the horizon meets the horizon again, is the same as the plaster mast work that has been done so far. It can be seen as an attempt to connect “symmetry,” the topic of physics in the 21st century, with “emptiness” in Buddhism.
In recent years, as cosmology has entered the realm of space science, the Big Bang has been proven. After the Big Bang, the four forces (gravity, strong interaction, weak interaction, and electromagnetic interaction) were classified, and there was a primordial state called symmetry. Here we have firmly established the theory of evolution. So where should we put God? What do our thoughts (thoughts) say? If Western logic developed science, we (the East) gave birth to religion and poetry. Isn't it the cultural content of the 21st century that should stroke that dry science with a gentle mystery? The very sky that we all return to (Blue Sky).
