갤러리신라에서는 2020년 5월 15일부터 6월 30일까지 서양화가 구자현의 개인전을 개최합니다.
국내 최고의 판화작가로 널리 알려진 구자현의 타블로(회화작품) 개인전을 개최합니다. 이번 전시는 캔버스작업과 종이작업 등 회화를 중심으로 한 전시입니다. 황금배경템페라(gold ground tempera) 기법을 기본으로 한 대형캔버스 작업을 포함하여 새로운 시도를 보여주는 20여점의 회화작품과 종이작업(한지작업)이 소개될 예정입니다. 40년간 작가가 발표해온 작품의 연속선 상에서 린넨과 한지 위에 금과 백금 등 고유한 물성의 재료를 그대로 드러내는 작업을 선보입니다. 이들 작업들은 화면의 완벽성과 섬세한 표현력이 더욱 절제된 감응으로 우리에게 다가옵니다. 구자현의 평면회화가 가지는 무한한 가능성을 엿볼 수 있는 전시로서 그 동안 작가가 추구해왔던 평면회화에 대한 도전과 태도를 엿볼 수 있는 좋은 기회입니다. 많은 관람바랍니다.
구자현(Koo Ja-Hyun, b.1955)은 대구출생으로 홍익대학교 미대를 졸업하고, 일본 오사카 대학과 교토 세이카 대학에서 회화와 판화를 전공했다. 큐슈 산교우대 대학원에서 석사학위를 받았다. 일본 유학을 마치고 1980년대 말 귀국 후 화단에서 판화와 회화작업으로 활발한 활동을 하고 있는 그는 2002년 공간 국제판화비엔날레전 대상, 1998년 삿포로 국제현대판화비엔날레전 스폰서상, Frechen(서독국제판화비엔날레전) 등 20여 회의 수상과 국내외에서 30여회의 개인전 및 다수의 그룹전에 참여하였다.

Gallery Shilla is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Western-style painter Koo Ja-hyun from May 15th to June 30th, 2020.
Ja Hyun Koo, who is widely known as the best printmaker in Korea, is holding a solo exhibition of tablo (paintings). This exhibition focuses on painting, including canvas work and paperwork. About 20 paintings and paper works (Korean paperwork) showing new attempts, including large canvas work based on the gold ground tempera technique, will be introduced. On the continuum of the artist's 40-year-old works, he presents works that reveal materials with unique properties such as gold and platinum on linen and Korean paper. These works come to us with a more restrained response to the perfection of the screen and the delicate power of expression. As an exhibition where you can get a glimpse of the infinite possibilities of Koo Ja Hyun's two-dimensional paintings, it is a good opportunity to get a glimpse of the challenges and attitudes the artist has pursued so far.
Koo Ja-Hyun (b.1955) was born in Daegu, graduated from Hongik University, and majored in painting and printmaking at Osaka University and Kyoto Seika University. He received his master's degree from the Graduate School of Sangyo University in Kyushu. After returning to Korea in the late 1980s after studying abroad in Japan, he is actively engaged in printmaking and painting work. He won the grand prize at the 2002 Space International Print Biennale, the 1998 Sapporo International Contemporary Print Biennale Sponsor Award, and Frechen (West Germany International Print Biennale). He has won over 20 awards and participated in over 30 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad.
