원천적 감성적 시각을 소중히 여기며 작업해온 조각가 최인수의 개인전이
그는 자연의 흐름과 몸의 형편에 따라 놀이하듯이 어떤 경계에 매이지 않고 자발적이고 유연하게 작업해온 조각가이다. 또한 조각가로서 각별히 인간의 정서적 생존에 관하여 사유해옴으로써 작품의 결과물들 또한 대체로 단순하고 질박한 모습을 보인다. 현시류나 시사적인 작품들에서 보이는 과잉이나 스펙터클과는 다르게 절제와 조용함 속에서 인간 내면과 알 수 없는 영역을 짚어보게 하는 작업을 주로 선보여 왔다. 이번 갤러리 신라의 전시를 그는 <멀리서> 라는 주제를 가지고 작업을 하였다.
조각가 최인수에게 선택되어진 나무들은 자연의 재료를 조형적으로 지배하지 않으려는 그의 의식을 담아 나이테의 흔적대로 조각이 된다. 그는 나이테가 나무가 살아온 흔적이고 시간이면서 그것이 우주라는 멀리서 날아온 소리의 세계며, 빛의 세계라고 생각했다. 그는 사람의 키보다 큰 나무에 2cm 정도밖에 되지 않는 끌이라는 도구를 가지고 끌질(다듬는 일)을 했다. 그것은 먼 우주에서 온 별 빛을 다시 내보내는 작업이라고 했다.
그의 나무조각은 표현할 수 있는 것과 표현할 수 없는 것, 가까이 있는 것과 멀리있는 것 사이에 흔적으로 남아 아우라로 전달된다. 이번 전시에서는 드로잉 10여점을 포함하여 그의 나무조각 신작 20여점이 소개될 예정이다.

The solo exhibition of Choi In Su, a sculptor who has been working while valuing the original emotional perspective, is being held at Gallery Shilla. This is his first solo exhibition at a gallery in Daegu, following his solo exhibition at the Indang Museum of Art in 2016.
He is a sculptor who has worked spontaneously and flexibly without being bound by any boundaries, as if he were playing according to the flow of nature and the circumstances of his body. In addition, as a sculptor, he has been particularly thinking about human emotional survival, so the results of his works are generally simple and simple. Unlike the excess or spectacle seen in contemporary or topical works, he has mainly presented works that allow us to look into the inner side of humans and unknown realms in moderation and quiet. The trees selected by sculptor Choi In Su are sculpted according to the traces of annual rings, embodying his consciousness of not wanting to dominate natural materials in a formative way. He thought that tree rings are the traces of a tree's life, time, and the universe, the world of sounds from afar, and the world of light. He chiseled (trimmed) a tree taller than a person with a tool called a chisel that was only about 2 cm tall. It was said that it was the work of re-emitting the light of the stars from the distant universe.
His wood carvings remain as traces between the expressible and the inexpressible, the near and the far, and are transmitted as an aura. In this exhibition, about 20 of his new wood sculptures, including about 10 of his drawings, will be introduced.
