His first meeting with Yves Klein in 1957 was decisive in steering his work in the direction of materialist absolutism. In 1961 he joined the German Zero group in D_sseldorf, founded in 1959 by Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and G_nther Uecker, who were very close to Yves Klein (1928-1962). The artists of the Zero group all preferred monochromatic colors and considered the space of the work as the decisive factor, free\r\nfrom all subjectivity.\t\r\nPerhaps the most important of Bernard Aubertin's works are his monochrome works in the color red. For him, red was a color that reflected the concept of blood, a symbol of life for the artist, and fire, a symbol of roaring passion. Beginning with his red monochrome works, he made a lifelong effort to show the energy inherent in his paintings through his exploration of the relationship between painting and energy. He believed that red was the best color to diffuse his own inherent inner energy.
