Kyushu, Japan. Since early 2000’s Song has made huge transition in his work. Using “han ji”(handmade paper using mulberry trees) instead of painting on canvas which was his original way of working. Song rips hanji with hand and cuts hanji using knife or scissors then filling it on blank canvas. Song believes that its important to communicate with his art work and portray hanji as way of communication. “Hanji can give equivocal meanings because of the transparency. Character that you can not find it on other papers.” Song Kwang Ik also works with 3 dimensional work to present more of tension and sense of space. By breaking one’s true function his work is able to reach out and expand in space. We can appreciate his ideas through unlimited ways of expressions and materials that artist choose.
["post-252","gs_exhibition","type-gs_exhibition","status-publish","hentry
["GET
