Western-style painter from Daegu, will be held at Gallery Shilla from November 22nd to December 10th, 2012. Han Jung Wook was a student in Daegu in 1961 and graduated from Hongik University and its graduate school in 1986. He had solo exhibitions at Gallery Hyundai (1992) and recently at Gallery H, Seoul (2012). \r\n\r\nI am working on reinterpreting the landscapes of mountains and valleys I have personally experienced with the eyes of my heart and expressing those feelings and energy on the canvas with my body. Han Jung Wook's work, which is called \"landscape of imagery\" or \"mindscape,\" creates his own blue meditative space by making full use of the action painting technique centered on his fingers instead of a brush. \r\n\r\nHis paintings are the result of pure action. Among the ten fingers, the central finger creates a skeleton that can evoke images, but the rest of the following fingers play a role in dismantling the large stem of the skeleton. If the preceding fingers are for movement to construct an image, the following fingers are for movement to dismantle the image. That is why, although his paintings are abstract when viewed up close, various landscapes are exposed at a distance. Depending on the viewer's experience and angle, the reason why it becomes a mountain, an ocean, or a cloud is also because the artist has prepared a device for deconstruction so that it cannot be built into a specific image. Ultimately, this results in enriching the layers of scenery in Han Jung Wook's paintings through various images and interpretations. \r\n\r\nThe first thing that stands out in his works is the destruction of images. In the place where the image disappears, only the frame that accepts the image and systematically classifies it may remain, which is a representative characteristic of minimal art. In the case of Han Jung Wook, this frame is meaningless because he tried to exclude rational views from the beginning. What he is trying to accept is the realm of noise that has been excluded by rational perspective.
