from October 5 (Fri) to October 31 (Wed), 2007. For this exhibition, the artist spent a week in the gallery exhibition space, including the Chuseok holiday, and freely produced works of images that came to mind. Without a predetermined image, the work proceeded by treating the entire space of the exhibition hall as if it were a large drawing paper for the first time. \r\n\r\nYim Ja Hyuk often likens himself to a fisherman. If hunting is an act of following a specific subject in mind, fishing is usually about casting a line and waiting for an unknown target. Like a fisherman sitting by the water, holding a drawing tool in his hand, he feels pleasure in catching an unknown image under the water. Even in choosing tools, I focus on materials that are picked up randomly in everyday life. In other words, I want to continue the temporary change from the daily life that was immediately rescued. In an insignificant little invention, materials are transformed. With this random act of creation, the artist reveals himself within an irrational system, which is similar to the system in which he remembers, feels, and thinks. While concentrating on the mental state of a moment, visualize the specific emotions and thoughts of that moment through unscientific imagery. In the end, the images he creates tell a story about himself through volume, density, weight, and tension. \r\n\r\nThe drawing process as a direct expression enables the expression of a vivid moment through immediate hand-eye coordination. While paying attention to the time and process of painting, he focuses on the space occupied by the painting and the relationship with the artist. I want to physically visualize subtle emotions, wild ideas, and distracting thoughts, enveloping the audience on a scale to the extent that they grow and capture and overwhelm him at any moment.
