2006. \r\n\r\nLee Gee Chil was born in Seoul in 1962. Graduated from the Department of Sculpture and Graduate School of Seoul National University, Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies and Chelsea College of Art & Design, London Institute. He is currently working as a professor at Kyungpook National University. Starting with his first solo exhibition at Namu Gallery in 1995, he held solo exhibitions at Total Museum of Art in 1996, Arts Center in 1998, and Mafuji Gallery in London in 2000. He also won the 1997 Peony Sculpture Award and the 1999 Kim Se-choong Youth Sculpture Award. In 2004, he was selected as  by the Kim chong-yung Museum of Art and had an invited solo exhibition titled . \r\n\r\nIn this exhibition, the process, and results of his experiments in relation to his recent  work are displayed. In the exhibition hall, a large model of the studio he is designing is presented as a sculpture, and a blueprint of the studio is drawn on the wall. It's not easy to figure out how this differs from the normal building process. However, it is even more difficult to meet these architectural expressions in the real world. It seems that he, obsessed with the fundamental questions required by sculpture, could not find any further possibilities in sculpture itself and greatly revised his work trajectory. However, Lee Gee Chil is more interested in the realistic space of his studio than the architectural act itself and is solving all problems in a thoroughly sculptural way for this purpose. So, his studio is an abstract concept rather than a physical space. This exhibition is a good exhibition to see the unique art world of the artist who crosses between art and society, reality, and unreality. It will be a time to enjoy new experiences about contemporary art and to appreciate works with personality. I hope to see many. \r\n\r\nThe studio is a specific place where one's work is done and can be said to be a spiritual residence where the artist can take root. However, in a modern society where nomadic values are valued, it seems to be getting more and more difficult for an artist to find a place to settle down with his spiritual roots. So, I decided to build my own studio, wanting to settle down somewhere. Although the site has not been secured yet, I am preparing to cut natural stones to make stone bricks and build a wall on the slope. On the one hand, I make drawings, blueprints, and models for the construction of my studio. And before they function as a realistic house, they function as art as they are installed in the exhibition hall.
