Kwon Boon-bun was born in Daegu in 1955 and graduated from Chung-Ang University in Seoul. In this exhibition, \u300cUntitled; On the clouds\u201d series, this is an exhibition that shows in detail the various aspects of the works that were filmed from the air and changed according to time and space.\r\n\r\nSince opening his first solo exhibition at the Seoul Press Center in 1975, Boomoon has been walking the path of photography for over 30 years. Today, the camera has become as much a daily commodity as the phone but looking at the world with a 'visual weapon' is still a privilege, and furthermore, it is an exercise of power over the subject. In fact, many photographers are conscious of such power, and sometimes capture images intoxicated. However, Boomoon has a different stance, 'Looking with a camera'. The strictness of the machine awakens the imperfect human perspective, so it has become a companionship with the machine. And rather than making or capturing images, I take pictures from the standpoint of 'serving the upcoming images'. \r\n\r\nIn his early photographs, you can see his curiosity about the world and his passion for documenting, but gradually \"taking pictures without thinking\" became his photographic attitude. Although they may seem indifferent, they are in fact traces devoted to viewing in a certain place and at a certain time. Since the late 1980s, his photographs have mainly featured vast natural landscapes without human traces. Sky and clouds, sea, wilderness, desert, night sky. Standing alone in front of infinite nature was always a sublime experience for all human beings, and the expression and reproduction of this extremely human inspiration for nature was an aesthetic task of the long tradition of landscape painting or romanticism art. In an era when artificial satellites and high-performance astronomical telescopes show new images of the universe every day, and scenes from every corner of the world can be recalled on a computer screen from time to time, what does it mean to work on natural landscapes? It can always be new in that it is an experience of a certain scale through the walking and breathing body before the problem of image. For Boomoon Kwon, what is also important is the act of standing in front of infinite nature itself and capturing the signs of infinity appearing as an image in a photograph is a response and statement to the city and civilization to which he belongs. However, there is no intended message, and it is his photographic concern to convey the scene most faithfully. Photography would be impossible if one seeks Mother Nature as an escape from urban life. The infinite nature he saw is phenomena that change infinitely. Moments of change are continuously filmed to express temporality. Unlike the real time of video, it is the time that goes through the artist's interpretation and imagination, and sometimes it becomes a way to express an impossible time. Cutting time like this is also a work method corresponding to the photographic property of framing. The new space and time created by fragments of infinite space is the essence of Boomoon's work, which is completed through exhibitions. The series I have been working on continuously since 1993 is the view of the sky from an airplane. The canvas of the sky drawn by ever-changing clouds has become the motif of countless photographs, and it is true that the air is a leisurely subject that accepts any imagination. It is important that Boomoon's skyscape is not a view looking up from the ground, but a view facing each other from eye level. Thanks to that point of view, there is an up and down in the sky. Thus, as in the landscapes of the sea, desert, or wilderness, an extreme landscape is created in which one horizontal line indicates the original direction of up and down. \r\n\r\nIntroduced in two sections, exhibition, and publication*, is a recent cloud series that is a four-dimensional skyscape reconstructed from images taken in Siberia, Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the United States, the Mediterranean, North Africa, and Korea and Japan.
