media artist born in Korea, will be held at Gallery Shilla from the 20th to February 15th, 2005. \r\n\r\nThis exhibition is the third exhibition to be held in Silla following \u300c95-Art and Communication\u300d and the 10th anniversary exhibition in 2001. \r\n\r\nThe spirit of video art is found in breaking down the boundaries of pure popular art, which is showing a serious advancing structure today, and in general publicizing the grouped forces of fine art. His video art is a reinterpretation of art as a practical thing in the general pattern of life, changing the sentiment of the modernism era, which tried to define the category of art as highly symbolic and abstract. The public feels reconciliation instead of a sense of estrangement toward art while watching Nam June Paik's satellite project, and his videotapes exist as a visual medium that anyone can easily obtain. It was intended to show through methods and functions that the owners of art and works of art can be the public. As far as we know, Nam June Paik is an artist who subtly reconciles high art and popular art, simultaneously combining very different cultures. His fierce and aggressive view of art that arose from this process is now regarded as the founding spirit of video art that gave birth to a new life. In this sense, Nam June Paik is a heretic in the institutional world. It is unknown how many more times we will be able to meet Nam June Paik in the future.
