Let's take a look at how these three artists, who have the same roots as those from Korea, found an opportunity for change from 1979, even though they live in different geographic spaces. This exhibition, which focuses on works from the 1970s and 1980s, is held in collaboration with researchers Quac In Sik, Kwak Duckjun, and Kwak Hoon.

Quac In Sik, Kwak Duckjun, and Kwak Hoon are all Korean-born artists who have experimented with their identity as Koreans while staying in Japan and the United States, respectively, while presenting their own unique paradigms of artistic expression. The works of Quac In Sik (1919-1988), an artist from Daegu, which are being re-examined in the domestic and international art world in celebration of the recent 100th anniversary of his birth, universal conceptual art works that overcome the dual identity of Kwak Duckjun (1937- ), a second-generation Korean-Japanese, and Kwak Hoon ( 1941- ) is an exhibition that examines the art-historical significance of works that reinterpreted Korean tradition in a modern way through objectification as a stranger and self-objectification, which were presented during his stay in the United States.

Through these three artists and their works, we would like to reconsider the connection between contemporary art in Daegu, Japan, and the United States. I would like to look back on the past 40 years of Korea's contemporary art through the three artists' world of art, which began to change rapidly from 1979, and the historical situation and art world of the 1970s and 1980s. Through this exhibition, we expect that it will be an exhibition that can present the various directions that Korean contemporary art should take in the future and the possibility of interpretation.
["post-149","gs_exhibition","type-gs_exhibition","status-publish","hentry
["GET
