The artist works by focusing on the process of work rather than the images embodied on the screen. Through this working process, we can get a glimpse of his unique working method in the texture of the paint spread over the completed canvas and the screen structure. Until a rough and thick texture is expressed, the artist repeats painting, erasing, and filling. The artist's view of art is naturally revealed in the repeated series of processes. \r\n\r\nThe artist continuously draws and accumulates blue and white oil paints vertically and horizontally using a thin brush. Line work based on this grid is to look at the world through the essence of painting, and to express the world he saw through that essence. \r\n\r\nThe artist, who has been continuously attempting to capture the theme of 'memory of space' on the screen, believes that the change of a space (place) in our lives is a series of creation, erasure, and refilling. Memories and records created in a series of processes are not completely erased and continue to pile up. It is the artistic attitude the artist pursues to capture the thoughts of three dimensions and beyond on a two-dimensional plane. While the spiritual basis of Korean Dansaekhwa in the 1970s focused on capturing Korean emotions and oriental aesthetics, Shin Soo Hyeok uniquely focused on revealing personal sensibility of experience and memory of space through the repetition of actions from the perspective of today's contemporary. \r\n\r\nThe artist says that he draws emotions and memories of a familiar space. The abstract and conceptual works go beyond the limits of painting and show the feeling of the compressed state of light projected onto the windows and buildings of today's bustling cities where cities are demolished and rebuilt. \r\n\r\nAnother noteworthy feature of Shin Soo Hyeok's work is that there are infinitely many squares because of repeated horizontal and vertical lines. The beings of irregular shapes lead people to find various elements on a consistent canvas through one color, blue, that the artist mainly uses, and induces them to immerse themselves. That element could be talking about the history of the space through the screen, showing unconscious expectations for new things to come. On the one hand, we can read the artist's expressive intention through the traces of the layers accumulated on the canvas. \r\n\r\nMy work is an oil paint, repeating the countless horizontal and vertical intersections of small and thin brushstrokes, their erection and demolition, and erasing and rebuilding, at some point in the production of a mysterious and unknown field where the experience of encounterment was reflected. In the process of infinitely stacking vertical and horizontal lines, the artist must have put down the brush at some point when the mass of paint becomes a painting. \r\n\r\nHe even used the expression 'Melted Blue' to refer to the blue illusion and light that permeated his work. Blue and white pigments, which were substances, are mixed with oil, melted, and drawn again on the screen.
