Kimchi and Chips is an artist duo formed by Mimi Son (South Korea), who studied visual arts, and Elliot Woods (United Kingdom), who studied physics.

Together, they weave material and immaterial elements into immersive visual languages, creating works that straddle the boundaries of art, technology, and perception.

Their practice focuses on the interplay between materials, technology, light, time, and space. The phenomena that emerge at the intersection of these elements serve as both subject and medium.

For Kimchi and Chips, materials and technologies are not secondary tools but essential starting points equally important as conceptual frameworks.

They believe that the repetition and labor of artistic process hold as much value as innate talent in generating creative energy.

Their work is informed by the idea that nature, philosophy, mathematics, science, music, and art all originate from a shared source, diverging into distinct paths before converging once again.

Since their formation in 2009, the duo has explored this idea through large scale, synesthetic installations based on the concept of Drawing in the Air,

where physical materials and immaterial light combine to shape ephemeral experiences in space.

In addition to their artistic practice, Kimchi and Chips actively engage in facilitating collaborations across disciplines, helping art, technology, culture, and society intersect from diverse perspectives.

Their work invites audiences to expand perception and reconsider the boundaries of reality, offering thoughtful propositions on how contemporary art can evolve alongside technological innovation.
