Günther Förg
「퀸터 푀그」소장전이 2006.1.5(목) ~ 1.25(수) 까지 갤러리 신라에서 개최된다.
1952년 독일 태생의 퀸터 프뢰그는 세계 유수의 미술관과 갤러리에서 수많은 전시를 하고 독일 핵심세대에서 주목받으며 성공한 예술가 중의 한 사람이다. 그는 독일 Capital지가 선정한 2005년 세계 생존 100대 작가에서 28번째 자리를 차지 할 정도로 인정받는 유명한 작가이기도 하다. 30여 년간의 작품 활동을 통해서 볼 때 그의 작업특징을 한 가지 매체로 설명하기에는 다소 어렵다. 그는 조각, 사진, 판화, 드로잉, 벽화 그리고 회화 등을 다양하게 다루면서 서로 유기적 연관성을 가지고 작업하기 때문이다. 그의 작업 출발의 주 핵심은 건축과 형태에서 기인한다.
단색이나 회색조의 1970년대 초기 개념예술에서 시작하여 점차적으로 대형 사이즈의 작업과 더욱 더 다양한 색을 사용하기 시작한 그는 과감한 색상의 사용과 작업의 반복과 단순성 때문에 이따금 미니멀 아티스트라고 분류되기도 했다. 하지만 그는 일정부분에 한하여 미니멀 리스트라고 할 수 있다. 유기적이고 자연스러운 작업도 많이 하고 있다. 극단적으로 말하자면 그는 솔 르윗이나 조셉 알바만큼이나 듀러나 렘브란트도 추구하는 상호교환 가능한 미니멀리즘을 추구한다. 퀸터 프뢰그는 캔버스 위에 2가지 색을 사용하여 작업하기도 한다. 시각적 투명성을 위해 수직과 수평의 넓은 stripe 작업을 하는 그는 그의 작업을 볼 때 “de stijl"과 연관성을 찾기 위해 노력하며 단순하면서도 가벼운 붓질로써 그림을 그린다. 또한 나무, 동, 종이, 린넨 등의 표면 위에다가 드로잉, 페인팅, 사진 등의 다양한 작업을 한다. 서로 서로 밀접하게 관계 되어 있는 일련의 페인팅 작업을 하면서 이젠 설치작업과 같은 것을 체험 할 수 있게 한다. 설치작업에서 분리된 각 부분들을 설치공간과 고유영역 확보를 위해 상호 영향을 비치면서 공간감을 창출한다. 그의 작품은 구겐하임 미술관과 샌프란시스코 미술관 같은 세계 미술관의 중요한 컬렉션이 되고 있다.
이번 갤러리 신라에 전시 될 작품들은 1990~1993년 사이에 제작한 드로잉 작품으로 작가 작업의 한 단면을 볼 수 있으며 총 12점이 전시 될 예정이다. 새로운 미술과 새로운 작업에 대한 작가들의 궁금증을 풀어 줄 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 사료되며 많은 관람 바랍니다.

Born in Germany in 1952, Günther Förg is one of the successful artists who has held numerous exhibitions in the world's leading art museums and galleries and attracted attention from the core German generation. He is also a well-known writer who is recognized enough to occupy the 28th place in the world's 100 living artists in 2005 selected by the German Capital magazine. Looking at his 30 years of art activities, it is rather difficult to explain the characteristics of his work with one medium. This is because he works in an organic connection with each other while dealing with sculpture, photography, printmaking, drawing, mural, and painting in various ways. The main core of his work originates from architecture and form.
Starting with the early conceptual art of the 1970s in monochromatic or grayscale, he gradually began to use large-scale works and more and more colors. Due to his bold use of color and the repetition and simplicity of his work, he is sometimes classified as a minimalist artist. However, he can be said to be a minimalist to a certain extent. I also do a lot of organic and natural work. Taken to the extreme, he pursues the interchangeable minimalism pursued by Durer and Rembrandt as much as by Sol LeWitt and Joseph Alba. Günther Förg also works using two colors on canvas. Working on wide horizontal and vertical stripes for visual transparency, he tries to find a connection with “de stijl'' when looking at his work, and paints with simple and light brush strokes. Also, the surface of wood, copper, paper, linen, etc. On top of that, they do various works such as drawing, painting, photography, etc. While doing a series of painting works that are closely related to each other, they can now experience something like an installation work. Creates a sense of space by reflecting mutual influences to secure a unique area His works are becoming important collections of art museums around the world, such as the Guggenheim Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Art.
The works to be exhibited at Gallery Shilla this time are drawings created between 1990 and 1993. You can see an aspect of the artist's work through the work, and a total of 12 pieces will be exhibited, and it is believed that it will be a good opportunity to answer the artists' curiosity about new art and new work.
