2013년 베니스 비엔날레 베네치아관의 초대작가인 미모로젤리(Mimmo Roselli, 1952~ )의 대표작품인 공간 로프설치작품은 대각선으로 공간의 벽면을 서로 연결하여 설치됩니다. 이것은 보는 방향에 따라 상승하거나 하강하는 느낌을 주고, 힘 있게 뻗어 있는 선들은 공간의 현존성과 그 공간이 가진 다양한 과거의 이야기들을 오늘날 우리의 삶과 연결시켜줍니다. 작가는 평면회화에서도 붓이나 연필대신에 칼날의 끝을 사용하여 새기고 파내어 지워지지않는 흔적을 만듭니다. 그것을 작가는 윤리와 미학 사이의 대화를 듣기위한 침묵의 필요성에서 기인하는 미의 미학(현란하지는 않지만 미묘하면서 감각적이며 동시에 잘어우러지는)을 재확인하고 싶었기 때문이라고 합니다. 로젤리의 작품에서 가장 중요한 핵심은 가식적인 것 너머에 있는 공명, 울림같은 것들로 작가가 만들어낸 새로운 선의 공간은 하늘, 지평선 같은 자연에서 얻은 이미지이면서 동시에 춤과 행동, 인간 사이의 사랑, 우정, 정서와 같은 비가시적인 감정을 표현합니다.

Mimmo Roselli (born in 1952 Rome) analyze the concept of the border: maximum reduction of the pictorial material (only using the glazing and layering technique), distinguished by lightness and transparency and at the same time by stratification and a great richness of details: layering upon layering of putting glazing color to reach something that is not a body of matter, but a transparency with thickness, with weight, very light, that take his own power by depth. The spaces, so built, are furrowed by signs, that cross like a walk in a vast landscape. So that there is no loss of history, no loss of variety, no loss of complexity, even if the is an apparent absence of things represented. The need to move into the space, which is also a peculiarity of Mimmo’s paintings, arose to realize a more self-evident hat of concept of space and volume in his work. Mimmo’s sculptures are spaces into spaces and the people are pushed to use the space as a new space. The space, inside or outside space, is a co- protagonist of the work. It shows lines tensed from a wall to another wall, directly from the wall the lines go out, directly into the wall go in, individuating a piece of something to show, what in the moment is important to let to see. In all cases is a piece of story dedicated to a space. All that because Mimmo wants to reaffirm a kind of aesthetics of beauty, maybe not showy, not unbecoming, subtle and sensual, that comes from that silence necessary to be able to hear a possible dialogue between ethics and aesthetics.
