박두영은 대구 출신으로, 1980년대부터 한국 현대미술계에서 활발히 활동해온 중견작가이다. 

그의 작업은 개념미술에서 출발하여, 다양한 재료와 매체를 넘나들며 지속적인 변화를 시도해왔다.

초기에는 경험과 언어, 개념을 검증하고 해체·재구성하는 작업에 집중했으며, 사진, 흙, 자연물 등을 활용한 설치 작업도 진행했다. 

이 시기의 작품들은 현재 기록으로만 남아 있다. 

이후 그는 회화로 방향을 전환하여, 녹색과 적색, 청색과 황색 등 보색 대비의 색면을 반복 배치하는 방식으로 화면을 구성해왔다.

초기에는 수채물감이나 자작 안료 혼합재료를 사용하여 종이나 패널에 작업하였고, 금속 패널 회화를 거쳐 2000년대 이후에는 다양한 미디어를 결합한 작품으로 확장되었다. 

처음엔 정해진 규칙에 따라 색면을 단순히 채워 넣는 방식이었으나, 점차 붓질의 질감을 살리거나 재료를 중첩·부착하는 방식으로 진화시켜왔다. 

이러한 방식은 형식적 변화를 수용하면서도 작가만의 고유한 조형 언어의 연속성을 유지하려는 태도를 보여준다.

박두영은 “좋은 미술은 동시대 패러다임의 경계에 있어야 한다”는 신념 아래, 예술적 타성에 빠지지 않기 위해 꾸준히 자신의 작업을 갱신하고 확장해오고 있다. 

그는 시대의 흐름과 예술의 본질 사이에서 균형을 모색하며, 끊임없는 실험과 성찰을 통해 자신만의 예술 세계를 구축해가고 있다.

Doo-Young Park, a prominent Korean contemporary artist based in Daegu, has maintained a consistent presence in the art world since the 1980s. 

His early practice focused on conceptual works that deconstructed and restructured systems of thought through investigations into experience, language, and meaning.

During this time, he also created installations using photography, soil, and natural materials works that now survive primarily through archival documentation.

He later transitioned into painting, developing a unique formal language characterized by the repeated arrangement of complementary color fields green and red, blue and yellow across the surface. 

His early paintings were made with watercolor on paper and handmade pigment mixtures on panel.

This later evolved into works on metal panels and, since the 2000s, multi media compositions that combine various materials and techniques.

While his initial approach was based on methodical color placement within systematically divided planes, his more recent works reveal expressive brushwork, layered textures, and additive materials. 

This evolution reflects Park's commitment to formal experimentation while preserving the conceptual coherence of his practice.

Guided by the belief that good art should reside at the edge of contemporary paradigms, Park continues to resist artistic complacency. 

His work engages deeply with color, surface, and structure, inviting viewers to reflect on the temporal and material dimensions of painting.
