박두영(Park Doo Young, 1958- )은 대구출신으로 1980년대부터 한국 현대미술계에서 꾸준하게 활동하고있는 중견작가입니다. 그의 초기작업은 경험과 언어, 개념의 검증을 통해 사고틀을 해체하고 재구축하는 일련의 개념적 작품들과 사진과 흙, 자연물 같은 재료를 이용한 설치작업들이었습니다. 지금은 기록으로만 남아있습니다. 그후 그의작업은 주로 녹색과 적색, 청색과 황색 등 원색으로 구성된 한 쌍의 보색면을 여러번 반복 배치해서 화면을 채운 것으로 초기에는 종이에 수채물감을 이용하거나 패널 위에 자작의 안료 혼합재료를 사용한 작품을 발표하였고, 그후 금속 패널 회화를 거쳐 2000년 이후에는 여러 가지 미디어를 사용하는 작품들을 발표하였습니다. 처음에는 규칙적으로 분할한 색 면에 정해진 채색을 단순히 채워 넣는 방식으로 그렸으나 점차 색 면 배열의 규칙을 유지하면서 붓질의 느낌을 살리거나, 재료를 중첩하거나 붙이는 방법을 채택하는 등 다양한 형식의 변화를 주면서 자신이 정립한 작품세계의 연속성을 지켜나가고 있습니다. 좋은 미술이라는 것은 동시대 패러다임의 경계에 위치해야 한다는 작가의 태도를 견지하면서 스스로 타성에 매몰되지 않으려고 정진하고 있는 작가입니다.

“Definition of good art is embracing issues of current world and standing strong on boarder line of paradigm.”​ ​Doo young Park is born(in 1958) and raised in Deagu, since 1980’s he has been working as contemporary artist. Park’s earlier art works used picture images and natural materials like dirt for his installations based on his experiences through customs and philosophical concepts affirmation to construct and deconstruct his thought process. Later on, Do Young Park decided to use repetition of contrasting color stripes then he started working with color dyed linen fabrics. In 1996 Park was using metal plates covered in automotive paints and then layering papers to show more depths in colors, and now experimenting with digital prints and other various medium. His painting started as filling in contrasting colors in empty spaces then started giving a different brush strokes or layering contrasting colors trying various ways to continue expressing his original concepts.
