박창서 (Chang-Seo Park, 1974~)는 개념미술을 중심으로 다양한 매체를 활용하여 작업하는 현대미술 작가이다.

그는 계명대학교 미술대학을 졸업한 후, 파리 제1대학 팡테옹 소르본에서 조형예술학을 전공하고, 예술학 박사 학위를 취득하였다.

그의 박사 논문은 「예술적 과정의 모호성과 투수성: 언어, 창조, 평가」라는 제목으로, 심사위원 만장일치의 최고 논문(Félicitations du jury)으로 주목받기도 하였다.

박창서는 사진, 설치, 퍼포먼스, 비디오, 회화 등 다양한 매체를 통해 언어, 장소, 시간성, 역사성 등 현대미술의 중요한 컨텍스트를 탐구한다. 

더불어 그의 작업은 언어와 이미지의 관계, 그리고 그 상호작용을 중심으로 전개되며, 관람객이 작품을 통해 그들의 기억과 경험을 재구성하도록 유도한다.

그의 작품 세계는 해박한 이론적 지식과 탄탄한 작업력에 바탕을 두고 있으며, 그동안 21회의 개인전과 100여 회의 초대전, 600여 회의 단체전에 참여하였다.

2016년 갤러리 신라에서 개인전을 시작으로, 2017년에는 대만 국립예술대학교에서 개인전을 개최하였으며, 같은 해 대만에서 열린 국제 전시에도 참가하였다.

박창서는 끊임없는 실험과 변화를 추구하며, 개념미술의 확장성과 고유성을 지속적으로 개발하는 작가로, 국내외 여러 미술관과 갤러리에서 작품을 선보이며 활발한 활동을 이어가고 있다.

Chang-Seo Park (1974~) is a contemporary artist who primarily works in conceptual art, utilizing various media.

He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Keimyung University and later earned a doctoral degree in Art Studies from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he specialized in plastic arts.

His doctoral thesis, titled "The Ambiguity and Permeability of the Artistic Process: Language, Creation, and Evaluation," was recognized as the best dissertation (Félicitations du jury), receiving unanimous approval from the committee.

Park explores significant contexts of contemporary art, such as language, place, temporality, and historicity, through various media, including photography, installation, performance, video, and painting. 

His work particularly focuses on the relationship between language and image, and their interaction, guiding viewers to reconstruct their memories and experiences through the artwork.

His artistic practice is based on profound theoretical knowledge and solid technical skill. Over the years, he has participated in 21 solo exhibitions, more than 100 invitational exhibitions, and over 600 group exhibitions.

After his solo exhibition at Gallery Shilla in 2016, he held another solo exhibition at the National Taiwan University of Arts in 2017, and also participated in an international exhibition in Taiwan the same year.

Park is an artist who constantly seeks experimentation and change, continuing to develop the breadth and uniqueness of conceptual art. He actively presents his works in various museums and galleries both domestically and internationally.
